It may seem paradoxical to present a footwear product from an entirely intellectual perspective. Yet, when it comes to Trippen shoes, it is truly impossible to get away from the philosophy that stands behind their design and production.
At a time when fashion has literally forced extremely high heels, aggressive toes and unsightly wedges upon us, the Berlin-based designers and creators of the brand, Angela Spieth and Michael Oehler, have managed to make their mark with sharply contrasting forms: rounded tips and comfortable soles, with low or sophisticated anatomical wedges. The shoes are made of three materials: leather (upper part), wood (sole or insole) and rubber (outsole).
The design is developed in Berlin by a tight-knit team of collaborators, while production is handled by skilled artisans in northeastern Italy, as part of the ethical choice of the company to enhance and sustain local and traditional excellence in shoemaking. The idea of sustainable economic growth also means that colors and leathers are made from non-polluting and non-allergenic vegetable matter.
